Tax relief for hiring prisoners and internees (Legge Smuraglia)

Granting of a tax credit for hiring employee prisoners, internees, or individuals admitted to semi-liberty or work-release schemes for at least one month. It also covers any workforce training provided it is followed by immediate hiring, subject to signing an agreement with the management of the penitentiary institution.

For Ustica: This opportunity may be of interest to local businesses and social cooperatives wishing to hire prisoner or internee workers, or those admitted to work-release or semi-liberty schemes. The measure provides access to a monthly tax credit of up to 520 euro per worker, offsetting hiring and any training costs.

Who can apply

Public and private enterprises and social cooperatives governed by Legge 381/1991.

Funding

Tax credit of up to a maximum of 520 euro per month for each inmate hired (and related training) and up to 300 euro per month for each semi-liberty worker, usable through offsetting via F24.

How to apply

By entering into a specific agreement with the management of the penitentiary institution where the workers are held and proceeding with hiring in accordance with the relevant collective bargaining agreements.
